D Day Beacon Event

June 6 @ 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm

On Thursday 6th June, beacons will be lit nationwide at 9.15 p.m. to mark the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings. It is our country’s opportunity to remember the 210,000 Allied casualties of Operation Overlord, killed in the invasions of Normandy’s beaches.  It is also a celebration of the peace and freedom given to us through the bravery and sacrifice of those involved, and we will be lighting our own beacon at Pauntley Village Hall as part of this event.

The Tudor Fish and Chip Van will be coming along on the evening as it is also National Fish and Chip Day, and serving from 6.00 p.m.  Please bring your own wine/beer.  Tea and coffee will be available.  Church bells will be rung nationwide at 6.30 p.m. and we will be asking for a short silence during the ringing, which we should be able to hear across the fields.

We hope you will be able to come along and join us for this important event.  Entry to the evening is free, but donations will be welcome on the evening for Help for Heroes, the charity supporting members of the UK armed forces and military veterans.
